The Stone of the Outcast and some Bez Dancing

Leila Pedersen - The Stone of the Outcast and some Bez Dancing

Leila Pedersen is originally from London. Her principal media are printmaking and drawing, with an oeuvre which looks at concepts such as transience, narrative, theatre, sensuality, self-adornment and the whims of man and nature. The core of Pedersen's ideology is a belief in the celebration of difference within human make-up and society. Her work looks at beauty and hope derived from the fringes of society and the ways change and growth can come from the margins.
Leila completed an MA in Fine Art Print at NCAD in 2008. The same year she won the RDS Printmaking Award, as well as the Norman Ackroyd Etching Award. She has exhibited at several locations in Ireland, as well as in Berlin and London. Recently she exhibited as part of the 'Something tells me it's all happening at the zoo' exhibition at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery. She has also shown at the RHA. Her work is held in many private and public collections. She is a member of The BlackChurch Studio.
